Lesson 5 Change

Looking back it really amazing how fast things have changed. Just not that long ago we did not have e-mail, blogs, or cell phones. As for what part of the mission statement I like. It is "The Library connects our changing community to the evolving world of ideas, information and technology." I like that we are willing to change with the times and also teach patrons who may not have had a chance to use new technology what it's all about.

Lesson 4 Open Source

I think open source is a great idea ! I hope to see more software become open source. The other web sites Yahoo Answers, Answerbag, Askbille were all interesting. It's neat to see what questions people are asking and what answers they get. As for how technology has changed my work place? Things are much faster and greater volumes of work are being made and processed. I think in the very near future Libraries will play a very big roll in introducing new technology and media to the public. It's already happening.

Lesson 3 So Healthy

The Wii is so cool! now I want to go get one. I also found that senior citizens are really getting into the Wii, they even have tournaments! Here are some links to the info I found.. Next Generation Gap-Senior Citizens Play Wii, U.S. retirees bowled over by Wii, and Senior Citizens Going Nuts for Nintendo Wii. As for the other sites in the exploration, I liked both Gimme20 and Nutrition Data. I thought it was cool that Gimme20 has a tools and widiget link and Nutrtition Data has a recipie analyzer. Great stuff!

Lesson 2

Wow! I never really thought of blogs as news, but watching the Blogs Explained video changed my mind. I also like the idea of using blogs to record world and personal history like the WWI Blog. What a great Idea! They also kinda makes it an adventure to read.

Lesson One

I watched the movie Information R/evoloution . It was fun to see just how much the way we search for information has changed, things are getting quicker. The article PCMag Learn 3.0 was interesting, the idea of a Semantic Web is intriguing.
